This is the only Yoga class available in the Laurel area! Space is limited, so sign up now! March 14 Bellingham is Bliss It's generally a good idea to "save" a page before you navigate away- for even the briefest moment. Clearly I did not do that when I completed the most recent edition to the "blog". A brilliant stream of words and information for you to read. A brilliant recollection of my weekend at SYTAR (Symposium on Yoga Therapy and Research). I navigated away from the page, and am now somehow haunted by the lack of presentation available to you here! This event does give pause for thought... matters of the mind/body. When do we save the thought? When do we allow ourselves to navigate away? It seems that navigating away from certain thoughts proves to be quite difficult, and this "holding" on that we do creates a virtual traffic jam of thoughts, emotions, and feelings in our bodies. As with any traffic jam, tensions are going to rise- after all, how much can one hold onto anyway? Do you still hold on to stuff from your childhood? Your teenage days? Yesterday? It's all piled up like an overflowing landfill. Learning how to free our mind from the overwhelming spam that occupies the space is surely a good plan of action when it comes to releasing other parts of our body. How are your shoulders, your neck... could some of that tension be caused by an over abundance of thought dwelling within? Spring is coming fast, time to clean out the house of your body/mind. Perhaps navigating away from the page is a very good idea. Start fresh! What are you holding on to now? Can you feel it, free it and let it flow? Did you know that expressing gratitude opens up the arteries in the heart? Essentially causing the heart to swell with healthy blood flow. What are you grateful for now? I am full of gratitude in this moment to be living in the Pacific Northwest- where my nostrils draw in crisp, clean (and this morning) cool air. As the air fills my lungs deeply, I am reminded of my bliss- and the sense of gratitude that I feel causes my heart to swell with happiness. Thank you to Bellingham for welcoming me back- not only this year, but this week as I returned from So. Cal. Just this past Tuesday. People often ask me what the difference is between Yoga Class, Yoga Therapy, Thai Yoga Therapy and Thai Massage.... are you curious? Read on if so. Yoga classes are group oriented and taught by a teacher who leads through words, immagery, demonstration. There are many forms, and many styles of teachers. Not all Yoga for all bodies. Not all teachers for all students. Yoga therapy is an individualized approach and happens on many different levels. In my practice, I try to meet the person where they are in their body right now. Not where they used to be, or hope to be in the future. Right now. Here and now. What is alive in you today? What can I do for you now. Talk can be good. Pranyama (breath) is huge, physical asana depending on the situation- if there is a structural issue or not. Thai Yoga Therapy is a hands on approach that enhances flexibility and is deeply relaxing. Physiological changes can arise- such as reduced blood pressure, stress. Thai Yoga therapy as I practice it is also an experience in Pranyama (breath), and has a very meditative component. As the energy lines (sens) are opened, the person may feel releases in various parts of their body/mind. The Yogic attention to breath and mindfulness might be the biggest seperation from Thai Yoga Therapy and Thai Massage. In both forms the client is fully clothed, and the practice takes place on the ground (on a comfortable mat). Please contact me if you have any questions, or if I can be of service to you in any way./ Shanti Om Lise The pictures below are of my Keana- the most talented Hula Hooper I've ever known... just wanted to show a glimpse of her most recent performance. February 06 Cali KulaLise is attending SYTAR (the conference sponsored by the International Association of Yoga Therapists, which she is a long standing member) at the LAX Hilton March 6-9. Following this, she will be seeing clients Sunday March 9 and Monday March 10. One appointment left as of this writing: Monday at 12:30 on the 10th in the I.E. If you want it, get in touch with her today! Peace is coming your way! January 29 snow day :) January 29, 2008 Beautiful snow day. No work. No school. My deepest apologies if we had scheduled something today- but as you can see, we made the best of it out here in the county! I hope you did too, and I'll see you soon. Peace Lise
